Context

The bank could not afford downtime or regression in its screening capabilities. Any gap would create regulatory exposure. The modernisation had to happen alongside live operations, with continuous validation that the new platform matched or exceeded the old one's detection performance.

Dual-running as controlled experimentation

Old and new screening engines ran simultaneously on live traffic, with automated reconciliation comparing detection rates, timing, and outcome consistency.

Progressive traffic shifting

Traffic was shifted from legacy to new platform incrementally, starting at low percentages, validating at each threshold, and rolling back instantly if anomalies were detected.

Continuous validation against production baselines

Every stage of the migration was validated against production baselines for hit rates, false positives, timing, and operational impact, not just functional correctness.
